We have transformed existing materials training and development materials from in-person presentations and the YWCA USA Racial Justice Training Manual into a suite of dynamic in-person and online course content for YWCA University. The suite of materials is designed to prepare staff members across the network to:
- Have a shared language and understanding of the concepts of race, racism and other related terms
- Lead/organize a RJ Training Manual Implementation Team in their local association
RJ 101 is the first course in a series of five known as the Racial Justice Foundations Suite. This course has no prerequisites and is designed to help you answer three basic questions, from a YWCA organizational perspective:
- What is race?
- What is racism?
- Why is racism so difficult to eradicate?
At the completion of this course each participant will receive a certificate of completion.
Time commitment
The course is based on a 90 minute presentation that has been divided into five sections, each section has a one or two answer quiz that must be completed before you move to the next section. This is a self-paced course, we anticipate that the course can be completed in a total of 2.5 hours or less.
The course will begin with a pre-test and end with a post-test (ungraded items). There will also be a exam at the end that you must pass with 75% or more to complete the course.
Contact ywcauniversity@ywca.org if you have any questions or issues.
